With more than 1,300 animal residents at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo, you probably have a favorite. Now, you can adopt them through our Share the Care adoption program and make your visits to the Zoo even more special. Your symbolic adoption helps to support expert animal care at the Zoo and global conservation efforts.

Below is a list of our most popular adoption packages, but every animal at the Zoo is available for adoption. If you don’t see your favorite, feel free to contact us or call us at 813-935-8552 ext. 214.

Please allow 5-7 business days for the processing of adoption packages.

Adopt any animal!

Every animal at the Zoo is available for symbolic adoption. You can purchase any of our adoption packages to help provide expert animal care Zoo-wide.

Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros

Armed and Beautiful

The Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros can weigh up to 6,000 pounds and stand a mighty 12.5 feet tall fully grown. Because these beautiful creatures do not use their horn for defense in the wild, their horn may appear shorter. This is due to the rhino rubbing their horn on objects such as trees and rocks. With numbers decreasing significantly in the wild, the zoo aims to help the cause through the species survival plan set up by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Your sponsorship could help raise awareness for a vulnerable species and provide expert medical care year round.

Giraffe Crossing

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is home to three different species of giraffes: Masai, Reticulate and Rothschild. Each species has unique spots and coloration depending on their geographical location in the wild. These animals can grow to be roughly 18 feet in height and utilize their long purple tongues to retrieve food from far up in the trees. By adopting a giraffe today, your support can help provide our “gentle giants” with food, enrichment items, and medical necessities.

Manatee Awareness

The slow-moving manatees are a familiar Floridian sight as they swim, glide, and munch along our warm coasts and springs. Unfortunately, cold stress and boat injuries are common among these gentle giants and the Zoo’s David A. Straz, Jr. Manatee Critical Care Center is here to help.  Each manatee that is viewed at our facility is rescued, rehabilitated and released.  Join us today by symbolically adopting a manatee.  Your support can help provide food and expert medical care year round.

African Elephant Calves

"Two" Cute

The Zoo is buzzing about our TWO African elephant calves, Mavi, and her big sister, Mpumi. The Zoo is proud to be a leader in African elephant conservation, education and science, and invites the public to celebrate and support elephants by visiting them year round. Share the care at the Zoo by purchasing a baby elephant adoption package. Your symbolic adoption will help to provide expert care and enrichment for the Zoo’s elephant herd for one year. These packages make great gifts for all occasions!

Koala Cuteness

Say "G'day" to Heathcliff, the adorable young male Queensland koala at the Zoo. You can purchase this special koala adoption package that will help to provide expert animal care and lots of yummy eucalyptus for Heathcliff for a year.

*Selection of plush animals is subject to availability and change. If the plush version of your adopted species is not available, a Zoovenir patch will be included in your package.
