ZooTampa has joined forces with IRONKIDS- affiliated with the acclaimed IRONMAN series of global athletic events- to bring young athletes a fun and unique opportunity to share in the excitement of competition while enjoying up-close interactions with some of the Zoo’s iconic animals. The inaugural event features four races from a baby Diaper Dash to a Mile Fun Run for kids and teens. The family event is designed with a goal to encourage a healthy lifestyle and connections with wildlife and each other. Adding to the festivities, Zoo animal care specialists will be active throughout the event bringing kids and family members immersive encounters with animal ambassadors. ZooTampa IRONKIDS presented by AdventHealth will take place on Saturday, September 21 from 7-11am. Registration is now open for $30, with a $10 discount for members, and includes a general admission ticket to the zoo in addition to access to the festival area, t-shirt and medal. Tampa Bay’s No. 1 Halloween Eerie Family Fright Fest Returns with More Howling Fun
The critically acclaimed Creatures of the Night event returns to ZooTampa at Lowry Park with more spooky scares and creepy frights for ghouls and goblins of all ages. On Fridays and Saturdays from October 4-26 the Zoo stays open late as a colorful cast of eerie characters, fearsome animals and immersive Halloween adventure zones take over to provide unforgettable eerie frights for the whole family. This year’s event features two new scare zones; Twisted Tale Trail and Rising Waters that take the howling fun to new levels. Special zoo creatures will also be out with animal ambassadors educating guests on the most fearsome looking but conservationally important species. Yoga in the Wild
There is no better way to strengthen, rejuvenate and relax than at ZooTampa’s Yoga in the Wild. This fun series returns on Saturday, October 12 and elevates guests’ yoga experience by connecting them with nature. Guests can enjoy a special enrichment and exclusive animal mingle while practicing yoga surrounded by amazing wildlife. ‘Tis the Season for Wild Family Memories and Jolly Holiday Surprises
One of Tampa’s most beloved holiday traditions returns with more twinkling lights, delectable holiday treats, and new jolly adventures. Christmas in the Wild at ZooTampa at Lowry Park immerses guests into a world of seasonal cheer designed to create lasting holiday memories for the whole family. The event kicks-off on Friday, November 22 and continues for 18 select nights throughout the season.
Festive entertainment and enchanting decorations abound throughout the zoo including a 50-foot animated Christmas tree complete with 12,000 dancing lights, 2,000 ornaments and an 8-foot star! Families can enjoy story time with Mrs. Claus, plus a new jolly animal show, “Animal Network Presents: Shopping for All!” featuring acclaimed furry and winged ambassadors. Guests can also experience an expanded Santa’s Village for seasonal shopping and magical meetings with Jolly St. Nick and his playful elves before they head back to the North Pole.
